Taare Zameen Par.....

Their minds are heavier than their bags..
They are more stressed than an employee doing a 9-6 job…
Their deadline of doing their homework is more difficult than sales target of a sales executive….
They are more scared of their mother than the employees are of their bosses…
Their school projects are more complex than a presentation made by an MBA…

Specs on the face and trauma on their mind, those little stars are losing their shine due to the peer pressure of performing and proving themselves every now and then….poor kids go through 3 shifts everyday(by 3 different types of teachers)...

4 hours of torture by teachers in school
2 hours of torture by tuition teacher
1 hour of scolding by mother for doing nothing the whole day!

Trust me what these kids go through is worse than what we go through like our boss's constant nagging, work pressures, deadlines, no appraisals, all kinds of troubles (caused by Mr. Anil Ambani) faced by us to reach that hell hole called office.

They are losing their precious time of childhood(which I cherish till date) in just competing with their friends which makes them feel that they have to compete for everything in life & that they have to prove their worth every 3 months by getting better marks then their pals…

My 6 year old niece, who though studies in 2nd std but toils as if she's giving her board exam this year, came to me one day to learn how to draw a coconut tree..I tried to make it very simple for her and made a shabby picture having some vertical & horizontal lines here & there..once done, she stared at the picture for some time and then this is what she said, with a disappointed look on her face

"Nilam (yes, she still calls me “Nilam” & she has a valid reason for it that I am her FRIEND :)) its ok but if I draw something like this…I am sure I will get only 7 out of 10, now draw one more for me!” (I am sure her mother would be very happy to hear that but I was not!).

And I thought drawing was a hobby, something we used to do just to have fun. Today, when an infant learns to walk or talk, it is not celebrated but when she learns to write an “A” (at the age of 2 years) is a moment of pride for the mother and the child is welcomed to the world of struggle for the marks and the grades!!!

They are told to be serious about their studies, I want to ask those parents, did they even know the spelling of serious when they were four…!

Why the hell do they have to weigh their creativity by the barometer of marks?

Why can’t they just draw their career themselves..colour their life themselves with those little crayons?

Why do they have to always live up to the expectations of their parents?

Why can’t they just enjoy this time to the fullest and cherish those moments forever..just like their parents did?

Why are the parents being so unfair to their own children?

Why can’t they have their childhood back?

I sooo wish this……..kho naa jaye ye taare zameen par…..!!!
